About US
By the Armon Hanatziv promenade, overlooking the Old City, the Judean Desert, and the Dead Sea…
In a mixed neighborhood that includes new immigrants and veteran Israelis, Ashkenazim and Sephardim, families with young children and elderly people, and individuals from a variety of religious backgrounds, lies the El Ram V’Nisa community, which was founded in the early 1980s.
Over the past five years, both the neighborhood and the community have been undergoing a process of renewal. There has been a wave of young families moving into the area, and the young couples who joined the community have been warmly welcomed by the veteran members.
A new spirit has entered the longstanding minyan.
In addition to prayers on Shabbat and weekdays, there are children’s services for various age groups, youth learning sessions, kiddush gatherings, regular Torah classes and study evenings, special holiday events, and community Shabbat weekends. During the High Holy Days, broader participation is felt, even among those who don’t usually attend synagogue.
For the past 30 years, the El Ram V’Nisa community has moved between various public buildings — the latest being a school gymnasium. We are in temporary locations that do not meet the needs of our community.
To realize our potential and become a true neighborhood hub and thriving community, we need a permanent home of our own: the El Ram V’Nisa Synagogue.
As a community, we want to continue to grow and serve as a religious-Zionist center for the residents of the Armon Hanatziv and Young Arnona neighborhoods. We need a building that will accommodate all who like to come, host events and celebrations for the broader public, and serve as a home for educational classes and activities.
